Description:
The purpose of the postgraduate admissions office is to deal with applications onto PG courses offered by the university. It acts as the first point of contact for many potential students, so it is a customer facing role. A comprehensive knowledge of the university, postgraduate courses and the application process is vital to this role.
The PG admissions team also organizes open days, allowing prospective students to come to the university and participate in interviews, find out more information about the course and the campus, and speak to admissions officers and academics.
The PG admissions office is normally part of the university’s central student office, which deals with all matters relating to students – from registration to graduation to records.
Duties:
- Responding to inquires about PG courses
- Processing applications
- Communicating with central and departmental administrators
- Communicating with university academics about courses and requirements
- Planning and attending open days
- Entering data from applications onto the university’s computer system

Getting qualified:
Training in the admissions processes is normally provided on the job. This involves learning about international qualifications, course requirements, and the use of the university’s computer system.
A university degree is preferable as knowledge of university life is required in this role. Experience in secretarial, data entry, or administrative roles will also be of use.
