jobs.ac.uk is in conversation with Becky Wallwork, a Senior Contracts Manager at the University of Cambridge. With over 15 years of experience across UK universities, NHS Trusts, and national research networks, her career has focused on enabling world-class research by balancing opportunities with risk.
Becky’s career in HE started as the Industry Liaison Officer at the University of Liverpool in 2008. Since then, she progressed through 4 universities and the NHS. She highlights how each of these experiences furthered her skills and gave her new perspectives, granting her opportunities to progress.
One of the defining moments of her career to date was her time as Contracts Manager, where she successfully built strong relationships and helped shift perceptions of the contracts department, enabling and furthering research activity.
Becky also reflects on the opportunities her career has opened up, the key lessons she has learned along the way, and the advice she would offer to other professionals looking to progress their careers in higher education.
