Are you looking to turn your passion into a career?

There are multiple roles to begin your career within the Professional Services and the Further and Higher Education sector.

Whether you have recently graduated or have a background in events, jobs.ac.uk has created an events job guide to help support and guide you within your job search.

Our event job profile will give you a clear perception of what will be required within the role, including average salary and working hours.

What is involved in event roles?

There are multiple job opportunities within events, such as event assistant, event executive, event coordinator and event manager.

All event roles require the same fundamentals to complete your projects successfully.

Essential responsibilities include organising, planning, timekeeping, and stock taking.

Key skills within an event role involve strong communication, problem-solving, and management abilities.

The roles include a fast-paced, quick-thinking nature to ensure all events run smoothly, regardless of an error arising.

For most event experts, the initial planning process plays a crucial part in the role, from venue selection, budgeting, on-site operations and logistics.

Networking is vital and helps each professional foster valuable relationships, opening doors to new opportunities.

Are there graduate jobs?

There are many graduate opportunities available within the event sector.

If you are searching for an entry-level position, a good place to begin is in marketing, sales and event management.

Charities often host many fundraising events, generating multiple opportunities for graduates to gain work experience.

Why should I apply for a job in the events sector?

In the UK, the events industry is evolving and moving away from the traditional working hours a week. More roles are becoming hybrid, creating a mixture of both remote work and on-site. Working hours are increasingly changing, allowing more room for flexible working and shift patterns.

A typical working shift is 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

In the event sector, the average entry-level salary starts from £18,000 to £22,000, and experienced event managers have the opportunity to earn from £40,000.

However, the general salary ranges from £28,000 to £45,000, although this can differ depending on location and experience.

If your journey is only just beginning in the event industry and you would like to complete an events apprenticeship, there are many opportunities as an event assistant and event management.

Explore the government website, to find out more on completing an Event Assistant (level 3) apprenticeship.

Discover a wide range of opportunities within the events sector with jobs.ac.uk. Covering jobs in Further and Higher education, as well as professional services.
