Samira Parhizkar is a second-year Biochemistry/ Molecular Medicine PhD student at the Centre for Stroke and Dementia and part of the International Max Planck Research School programme in Munich, Germany. Prior to her PhD, Samira completed an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham, which included an industrial year as part of the Master’s degree. During her time in Nottingham, Samira tried to get as much research experience as possible to get a glimpse into the academic world, which greatly helped in deciding as to whether or not a PhD was right for her. Samira is looking forward to sharing her experiences with you, including the adventures of moving abroad for a PhD.
